Craig Middle School
Craig Middle School, at 915 Yampa Ave., is centrally located in the community of Craig.
The school houses sixth-, seventh- and eighth-grade students. The school was constructed in 2009, replacing the previous building on the same lot, which was built in 1948. The 18-acre campus includes two physical education fields, a football field, baseball field, industrial arts classroom and shop.
The school is equipped with up-to-date computer/audio/visual equipment and materials to complement the basic educational program, which stresses the improvement of basic learning skills. The school also features an instructional materials center, which includes a computerized information search and checkout system, and materials for students and faculty members.
The central core of the instructional program focuses on the basic subjects of English, reading, mathematics, social studies, physical education and science. Elective courses include choir, band, foreign language, speech and drama, teen topics and specialized computer classes.
CMS places great emphasis on maintaining a positive school slimate and close communication with parents , including regular progress reports, report cards and regularly scheduled parent/teacher conferences.
There is an interscholastic sports program for both boys and girls. Sports include football, volleyball, basketball, wrestling and track.
