Craig Middle School, at 915 Yampa Ave., is centrally located in the community of Craig.
The school, which was built in 1948, sits on an 18-acre campus.
The campus includes two physical education fields, a football field, baseball field, industrial arts classroom and shop.
The school's staff consists of 25 teachers, a principal, a counselor, a dean of students, three secretaries, nine teacher aides and three custodians.
The school was rated average in the 2005-06 Colorado School Accountability Report.
The school is equipped with up-to-date computer/audio/visual equipment and materials to complement the basic educational program, which stresses the improvement of basic learning skills. The school also features an instructional materials center, which includes a computerized information search and checkout system, and materials for students and faculty members.
The central core of the instructional program focuses on the basic subjects of English, reading, mathematics, social studies, physical education and science. Elective courses include art, home economics, chorus, band, speech and drama, teen topics and computer classes.
There is an interscholastic sports program for both boys and girls. Sports include football, volleyball, basketball, wrestling, cross country, soccer and track.
Bill Toovey is the school's principal. Kamisha Siminoe is the dean of students.
