Colorado Northwestern Community College
The Craig campus of Colorado Northwestern Community College (CNCC) offers local residents access to a number of educational and recreational courses.
The college also offers courses at its residential Rangely campus. The Craig campus provides services to about 600 students. CNCC boasts about 1,300 total students including the Rangely campus, Hayden, South Routt County and Meeker service centers and high school dual enrollment program.
Moffat County residents may enroll in the college's courses free of charge, thanks to scholarships through a local mill levy.
Nursing, cosmetology and power plant technology are programs unique to the Craig campus. Mine training and Emergency Medical Services training are also provided by the college. Dental hygiene, aviation, aviation maintenance and natural resources programs are offered in Rangely.
Although a number of students complete certificates and programs, many opt to transfer to four-year institutions to complete a bachelor's degree or master's program after receiving an associate's degree.
The positive relationship between Moffat County High School and college has resulted in the development of a strong collaborative program that allows qualified high school juniors and seniors to take dual enrollment college classes for high school and college credit.
The Craig campus is a unique mix of recent high school graduates, full- and part-time students and non-traditional students, a dedicated staff and faculty, community education classes reflecting local interests and culture, and a fitness center.
The Adult Learning Assistance Program (ALAP) provides experienced instructors and tutors for remedial and preparatory classes.
